Bonjour! I am Laura Franklin, 44 years old and a working mother of three. I am lucky to be married to this amazing French man. We have been speaking English together throughout our relationship and that has been working well for us 2, but I realized quite early in the relationship that I need to learn to speak French in order to communicate with his relatives in France and with our bilingual children. I was never very good at languages and the challenge seemed big, but I decided to give it a shot. Apparently I did well because many people have asked me for tips for learning to speak French fluently. That’s why I started this site.
I started to study French by attending some classes at the local language school. I enjoyed the group and the lessons a lot! However, having one night a week taken by the French lesson proved to be too hard on top of all my other activities and responsibilities. I started to look for other options, and realized that I can master the language by myself by using some tools I found from the internet. With these tools I was able to work on the language whenever I had some spare time: on a break at work, in the car, at the gym and whenever there happened to be some quiet time at home. After a while I noticed some huge improvements, which encouraged me to work even more. I was able to do it, and so are you! Speak French Fluently is about the tools I have used and found useful.
